Read the date answer before the trailer if you came here from a search for September. The clip will not tell you that Steam writes 3 Sep and Capcom writes 4 Sep; only the first details block does. The same split applies to demo progress: watch footage after you know the save will not continue.
The stills under this trailer are separate from the player: they do not change when you pick Overview, and they are not a second chapter rail. That keeps FAQ answers as the page’s job.

How to use these answers
Each answer above is meant to be read once, then followed by the matching long page if you need tables. Dates go to Release, the trial to Demo, names to Cast or Terms, hardware to PC Specs, lineage to Series.

This wiki is unofficial. ONIMUSHA is a CAPCOM trademark. Nothing in the FAQ is a publisher support channel for refunds, trophies, or account recovery.
Language confusion is the other high-traffic trap. The game’s Steam matrix is not this wiki’s 14-language chrome. Turkish, Ukrainian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian pages here do not mean the game UI exists in those languages. Arabic and Latin American Spanish exist in the game and not as wiki locales.
Edition names and Early Adopter clocks belong on Editions. PC presets belong on PC Specs. If an answer here and a table there ever disagree after a store change, the live first-party store wins, and the UTC capture stamp tells you how old our snapshot is.

When does Onimusha: Way of the Sword launch?
Steam lists 3 Sep, 2026. Capcom IR and the official footer list Friday, September 4, 2026. Write 3–4 September 2026 and use the official store in your timezone. The old public date was Friday, September 25, 2026, moved forward on 2 July 2026. Those two September days are a timezone window, not two competing launches.
Does Onimusha demo progress carry over?
No. Official demo notes say save data will not continue into the base game, and that the demo differs in some regards from the full game. Keep the demo save anyway: Charm: Kubi Akari is claimed in retail via the Spirit Mirror. The trial shipped 2 June 2026 as Steam 3974650 and later expanded past the Ganryu duel.
Does Onimusha have Chinese?
Yes. Steam lists Simplified Chinese with interface, audio, and subtitles, and Traditional Chinese with interface and subtitles. That is game language support, which is not the same list as this wiki’s locales. Italian, German, Arabic, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese are also in the game’s Steam matrix even though this wiki does not use all of them as site languages.
Does the game include Turkish, Ukrainian, Thai, Vietnamese, or Indonesian?
Not in the captured Steam language matrix. This wiki still publishes those locales because the site is a 14-language fan reference, not because Capcom shipped matching in-game text. Do not read a Türkçe or Українська page here as proof of a Turkish or Ukrainian game UI.
Do I need to play Onimusha first?
Capcom has not published a required-order gate. Way of the Sword is sold as the first new series title in over twenty years, with its own Musashi-in-Kyoto pitch. Onimusha: Warlords HD (Steam 761600, 15 January 2019) remasters the 2001 debut if you want that story; it is optional context, not a listed unlock.
What genre is it, and is it a Souls-like?
Capcom’s line is Swordplay Action. Steam’s taxonomy is Action / Adventure / RPG. Souls-like appears as a Steam user tag, which is player tagging rather than Capcom’s design label. Issen, parry, and Oni Armaments are the official combat names; no frame data is published.
What are the platforms and PC specs?
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Store. PC presets are Windows 11, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 50 GB SSD, from 1080p30 Low to 2160p60 Ultra. Steam lists Denuvo. Prices are current store prices, not a frozen global MSRP.

No first-party or critic scores exist in the captured pre-launch set, and this site will not invent or import predictions from other wikis. Wait for retail. The same rule applies to campaign length, boss health, drop rates, and day-one patch notes — none of those figures were published in the 30 August 2026 capture.
