Official about copy says the series debuted in 2001. Onimusha: Warlords on Steam (761600) is the 2019 HD remaster of that first game, released 15 January 2019. Capcom IR calls Way of the Sword the first new title in over 20 years.
Those three public facts answer “which number is this?” without reconstructing Dawn of Dreams, Blade Warriors, or other entries that were not recaptured as first-party 2026 identity pages for this wiki.
You do not need to have finished Warlords HD to understand the 2026 marketing: Capcom sells Way of the Sword as a new entry starring Miyamoto Musashi in Edo-period Kyoto, not as a required sequel lock.
The 2001 debut date in official copy is a year, not a day. This timeline therefore labels that node 2001 rather than inventing a month. Warlords HD has an exact Steam day: 15 January 2019. Retail 2026 keeps the dual-cite slash.
Do you need the older games?
